Every Thursday morning at 6.30am, riders from the Albany Cycle Club show up at Bay Merchants for a well-earned coffee after a gruelling hour-long ride. Dressed in lycra and reclined alfresco-style across the entire length and width of the pavement, they tell stories of pain and gain, adding colour and energy to Middleton Beach. Sponsored by Bay Merchants, the group enjoys coffee and pastries, forming an integral part of the Bay Merchants corporate social responsibility ethos. They are joined by the Slack Pack, or semi-lycra group, who might be less serious in their cycling aspirations, but know how to have just as much fun.
